1. Can you introduce yourself and Oum Tribe?

My name is Rachida, I am a founder of many initiatives, including Oum Tribe. I am a recognized award winning gender equality campaigner. Who has served in the London police department and spent a number of years at a strategic level making a positive difference in women's lives. I am a great believer in the notion that investing in women serves to the greater good of all. After all, women are the engines of our societies. Oum Tribe was founded to ensure that we help lift women out of poverty, one woman at a time.

2. How was Oum Tribe born? How did you start?

Oum Tribe was born during the global pandemic of 2020, as the world suffered unprecedented economic recessions coupled with a sharp rise in mental health crisis. It is a known fact that women are the first to be severely impacted by the crisis. I travelled from London to Morocco at the start of the pandemic and have been here ever since. This has presented me with the opportunity to look deep into the impact of the economic deprivation on women, particularly those of indigenous origins.

3. What makes Oum Tribe different? Can you explain your products with details?

What sets us apart is our organic and the immediate relationships we have with local artisans and carpet weavers whom study shows get paid as little as $0.20 per hour (the equivalent of 2 Moroccan Dirhams) despite the lucrative market and the demand for such unique and stunning items as the middle men amass fortunes. I went on to register a non-profit organization in the UK, in June of 2020, and began to foster these relations to ensure we put an end to these exploitations.

4. What reactions do you get from your clients? Do they love your products?

We are so grateful for the amount of positive feedback we've had so far from our clients, who realize that for every purchase they make, they are indirectly helping us with our mission.
